The partnership between Steber International, Ampcontrol, and the UON received the Hunter Manufacturing Collaboration Partnership award for the design, manufacture and successful testing of the 22 foot electric hybrid vessel.
The Manning River Times joined the inspection of the latest prototypes at Steber's Taree factory with general manager, Alan Steber. NSW Minister for Water, Property and Housing Melinda Pavey and Myall Lakes MP Stephen Bromhead attended the inspection and award presentation.
Mr Steber said the team are proud to be at the forefront of developing electric hydrogen power hybrid options for a range of commercial and recreational vessels.
"Hybrid power sources for marine applications are being developed across the globe. We are proudly playing our part, working in partnership with industry leaders and innovators in regional NSW.
"While we have been manufacturing boats for almost 80 years, we have always kept one eye on the future," Mr Steber said.
