"Due to the continuing uncertainty of the COVID-19 restrictions, our committee had to make the hard decision to cancel the rodeo," Elaine Turner, president of the Show Society said.
The decision was made after consultation with local MPs, the Agricultural Societies NSW and ABRCA, the rodeo governing body.
"Whilst we understand that further COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted on December 1, 2021, the patron density for our event, obeying the one person per two square metre rule in the rodeo arena viewing area was not going to be an option for us to be able to run our rodeo," Mrs Turner said.
"This was not an easy decision to make, and we know that many of you will will be disappointed. However, the health of our patrons, competitors and volunteers should always come first. This is a priority for us and we do not intend to place any of you at risk.
"We appreciate your understanding and patience as we undertake the task of contacting everyone and we want to thank our community for their ongoing support.
A special bull riding event will take place at the Wingham Show on March 25, 2022.
