The two animals are celebrities in their home town of Camden Haven and their owners Gary and Bernadette Angel couldn't be prouder.
Residents and school children will often stop for a chat and a pat, as the furry four-legged friends go for their daily walks around town and at the beach.
Mr Angel said Benji he originally rescued the then eight-month-old goat from a property at Armidale as a companion for his rescued bull arab cross irish wolfhound, Bear.
"Bear needed a mate because they are both rescue animals. Bear had been in a very sheltered life, Bernadette wasn't keen on another dog so we ended up with a goat," he said.
"She was in Cairns and I was in Armidale, we had goats previously so I knew that she liked them.
"Armidale was in the middle of a really bad drought in 2018. They had no feed for him, he was raised on pellets, and he didn't see anything green until he came here. He hadn't seen rain or whippersnippers or helicopters until he came here."
The goat was named after New Zealand professional rugby league footballer Benji Marshall, after the couple witnessed a particularly aerobatic leap in their garden.
Benji the goat is now a celebrity in his own right with appearances in newspapers, online photos and on television program Better Homes and Gardens with Dr Harry Cooper.
Bernadette said filming for the television show took place for an entire day in 2019 and Benji had taken it as his personal mission to chew on Dr Harry's shoe laces.
"He's a spoilt goat but also very smart. He's house trained so he can be told to pee on the grass and he knows if he does that, then he can come inside the house," she said.
"You can tell him to go upstairs or down stairs, and he will do it.
"He can be quite funny sometimes and also quite demanding. You can see him saying 'I want that orange on that table' and now that he can reach across tables we have moved the fruit bowl to a different spot.
