Only a few businesses were required to be closed because of the COVID restrictions so locals were still able to enjoy most things they always had, albeit perhaps in a slightly different format.
There seems to be a high degree of compliance within the community with mask wearing and checking in with QR code or manually.
The Lions club's Saturday morning egg sales and RSL sub-branch meat raffles were suspended as was the monthly Old Bar markets but they will all be back soon we hope.
Nuisance text messages (spam)
A lot of people have recently received unsolicited text messages from Craig Kelly MP, member of the United Australia Party. Politicians and charities are exempt from the "Do not call" register.
The method used for these text messages by Kelly does not reveal his mobile phone number and does not give you an option to reply or block.
There are a couple of things you can do. You can call his Sydney office on (02) 9521 6262 and ask his office, politely, to stop spamming you. You can call his Canberra office as well, if anyone's answering there, on (02) 6277 4366. And if you still have a fax, you can fax him on (02) 9545 0927.
But probably the best option is to go to https://www.crikey.com.au/2021/08/31/hacking-kelly-how-to-let-craig-kelly-spammer-know-how-you-feel/ and you can find out his mobile number. Then send him a text message and after it's sent, you will then have the option to "Save" or "Block." Obviously take the latter option.
Heartfit Classes Resume
The Heartfit program which was operating at Banyula Village every Monday is now being conducted on Tuesday afternoons via Zoom, with exercise professional, Michelle Georgiou. So you can still do your exercises in the safety of your own home.
If anyone else would like to join in, contact the CTC on 6553 6677 or email ctcoldbar@gmail.com and we will provide contact details to make suitable arrangements.
Zoom classes will probably have to continue until Banyula allows a return and mask wearing is no longer required.
