Council contractors expect the work to take about one week to complete with work being undertaken during the day under traffic control.

This work is to repair a section that has failed and follows previous drainage improvements to the area in preparation.

"Ground water was penetrating the road pavement and collecting under the eastbound traffic lane so in August last year we had new subsoil drainage lines installed to prevent the ground water entering the pavement in the future," explained council's Rhett Pattison.

"Traffic will be restricted to a single lane while the work is taking place and motorists can expect some delays."

Rhett advised there will be active traffic controls in place from 6am to 6pm to minimise delays during peak periods, while traffic lights will be in place between 6pm and 6am.
