I'm sure I am not the only one who looks on in disgust and disbelief in the confusion being spread by certain political figures for their own agendas, ably assisted by the "anti vaxxers".

I will be 86 this month and I can remember vividly when I was about seven, the profound relief for my mother with the introduction of the Diphtheria vaccinations in the UK.

Over the years we have seen the elimination of most of those terrible diseases which ravaged the children before their coming.

I would say to anyone who opposes having their children vaccinated to do the following - take a trip down to Moonta in South Australia and go to the cemetery there. And, as I did, look in horror at the rows and rows of children's graves.

Children who died from such things as measles and whooping cough.

Yes, there have been cases of a reaction to a vaccination with dire consequences.

But how many thousands of lives have been saved because of vaccinations?

It is a fact that in many Third World countries these diseases continue to decimate children, simply because they cannot be vaccinated.

Unfortunately we are seeing a resurgence of these old scourges of children in certain areas in Australia.

It is a criminal act in my view that these "anti vaxxers" put the lives of their children on the line. But even more so that they imperil other children.
