The aero club applied for and has received a NSW infrastructure grant of $41,100 to upgrade the clubhouse kitchen.
During the last major bushfires more than 50 people were using the Manning River Aero Club, including 12 pilots who slept in the clubhouse on one occasion overnight as they had nowhere else to go.
More recently, in the March 2021 floods, the kitchen's outdated facilities were extended to the limit supporting the large number of aircrew and rescue services operating from the clubhouse.
Crews from the Rural Fire Service, NSW Air Ambulance, State Emergency Services, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the Toll Ambulance Helicopter Rescue Service all make the clubhouse their respite base. The aero club allows access to all flight crews 24-hours a day.
The club house is also used by the Australian Air League, Air Cadets, Dundaloo Support Service, Scouts, Lions and Rotary Club of Taree.
The kitchen was last upgraded over 35 years ago and the need for a revamp had become increasingly apparent. The club's management committee applied for and was successful in receiving the grant; supported and presented by local member Stephen Bromhead.
