Taree will host the iconic trophy on Tuesday July 27, with Manning Vale Race Club planning a range of events including having the Cup on track to attend a race meeting.
Taree will join 29 other towns and cities across Australia that will be part of the 19th annual tour, which will see the magic of the People's Cup shared with all Australians.
Manning Vale Race Club executive officer Helen Sinclair said the town is looking forward to welcoming Corey and the trophy to Taree as part of the Cup Tour.
"We are very excited to have Wingham local and dual Melbourne Cup winning jockey Corey Brown accompanying the Lexus Melbourne Cup when it visits Manning Valley Race Club at July 27 race meeting," Helen said.
Race club chairman Greg Coleman said the cup will also be taken to three destinations in the area as part of the tour. These have yet to be confirmed.
Brown, who grew up in Wingham, was last home on June 7 when he was guest at the Wingham Cup meeting. The Corey Brown Cup was also part of the program.
Taree will also be part of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep, which will give 24 cup tour destinations across Australia the opportunity to be allocated a barrier for the 2021 Lexus Melbourne Cup. The town which draws the barrier of the Lexus Melbourne Cup-winning horse will be presented with a cash prize of $50,000 to put towards a nominated charity for a local community initiative.
