Musician Murray Mandell is performing from 10am to 3pm each day to raise funds for The Smith Family.
"The Smith Family has been in the back of my mind for years. Australian education is a very powerful tool for all children whether they are disadvantaged or not disadvantaged," Murray said.
"We know that one in six children and young people are living in poverty across Australia today and this limits their choices, opportunities and outcomes in life. So it is a great privilege that I am undergoing this project."
Murray says that he wants to use his energy as much as possible to help others. He has done so with many projects over the years, with the most recent one being fundraising for Lifeline for three years.
Previously the retired hospital microbiologist performed a staggering 409 times in 156 major shopping centres, raising just over $71,000 for Lifeline.
"The Lifeline tour was extraordinary, and produced very positive results for so many individuals that I came across during my performances in the shopping centres.
"I enjoy having passers-by approach me for a chat, whether it's about the charity I'm supporting, or something else entirely."
And while you're chatting, slip him a donation for The Smith Family.
"Every donation to this great cause is vital - helping young Australians in need to build better futures through education," Murray said.
