The planned $455 million Figtrees on the Manning precinct on the banks of the Manning River at Taree is beginning to take shape as major earth works, road and community infrastructure continue to be rolled out.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said several components of the project were now complete and all public infrastructure works were scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
"All of this public infrastructure needs to be put in place before the residential and commercial developments planned for the precinct can proceed," Dr Gillespie said.
The Figtrees on the Manning precinct development will revitalise the area in and around the Taree Fisherman's Co-op at Chatham in Taree with cycleways, nature walks, residential and commercial development - and a marina.
"Bushland Health Group has been allocated this funding and been closely working with the landowners to complete the necessary work so that the precinct can finally get underway," Dr Gillespie said.
In addition to cafes, residential apartments, shops and other commercial operations, Bushland Health Group plans to develop a $30-million retirement living complex overlooking the Manning River. A number of heritage buildings will also be retained and repurposed within the new precinct.
Progress on the works to date includes:
- Completion of the new bridges across Brown's Creek, and by the end of this month, the walk/cycle way from Taree CBD to Pitt Street will be complete and open for public use.
- Work on the raised boardwalk / footpath at the centre of the precinct - and in front of factory - has commenced and is progressing for completion soon.
- The footpaths are completed or nearing completion.
- Kerb and guttering is progressing or nearing completion.
- The major intersections leading into the precinct along Manning River Drive, including at Bligh and Lyndhurst Street will commence this month.
- At the eastern end of the precinct, more than half of the fill is in place for the connector road between Pitt and Bligh Streets. Once settlement of the earthworks has taken place, the road surface will be finished at the end of the year.
- Road/storm water realignments between Pitt Street east and Bligh Street are expected to be finished by the end of next month.
