Wheeler, from Old Bar, has been named in the back row. She was an early casualty in 2020 when she tore her ACL playing for St George-Illawarra in the Perth Nines in February and was ruled out for the rest of the year.
Wheeler previously played for Newcastle in the NSW Women's Premiership but has linked with the North Sydney Bears this season.
She has previously represented NSW and Australia and played for St George in the first two years of the NRLW. Wheeler is expected to turn out for Saints in this year's NRLW.
Tayla Predebon from Gloucester has also been named in the Country women's rugby league team. A front rower, she plays with Central Coast Roosters on the NSW premiership. Ellie Johnston from Wauchope is another Country starter. The strong running back rower now appears for South Sydney.
Johnston cut a swathe through defensive patterns when playing in the Lower North Coast rugby women's sevens in 2019.
