Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said the NSW government had rezoned land north of Cundletown from rural to industrial and environmental conservation, paving the way for $42 million in investment and 112 new local jobs.
"This rezoning paves the way for unused land in the middle of one of the Mid North Coast's busiest trucking routes to be developed into a major employment hub for transport-related industries," Mr Bromhead said.
"The Northern Gateway will be a major boost to transport related businesses and support road safety by providing a hub for long distance journeys.
"This Government recognises how pivotal the Northern Gateway is for the region which is why we are investing $15 million on road upgrades, a new roundabout and relocating infrastructure.
"This latest rezoning will be a game changer for businesses looking to set up or expand with 50 hectares of developable land available right next to the Pacific Highway."
MidCoast Council's Mayor Cr David West said the rezoning was an important step in the development of the Northern Gateway Transport and Employment Precinct.
"This development is part of council's vision for the future of the area, and is supported by the local business community, so it is very positive to see it reach this important milestone," Cr West said.
Seven hectares of land next to the Pacific Highway was rezoned in 2016 and a development application is being assessed by council to build a trucking depot at Emerton Close.
Road upgrades are underway with the formation of the roundabout expected to be complete in August.
