Organisers of the Bonnie Wingham Scottish Fair say that because of COVID restrictions some regular events like the caber-toss are out of the question, however the usual haggis hurling and tug-o-war competitions for the lads and lassies, and kilted dashes for the kids, will still go ahead.
There will be usual market stalls selling Scottish-themed merchandise, and the ever popular Best Dressed Dog with Scottish Theme competition is always a hit.
Five pipe bands will be attending: the Port Macquarie Hastings Pipes and Drums, City of Newcastle RSL Pipe Band, Coffs Coast Pipes and Drums, and the United Mineworkers Pipe Band, as well as our own Manning Valley Pipes and Drums.
If you've not yet seen them the Jacaranda Highland dancers will surprise and delight you with their skill and agility.
New to this year's line-up is the Highland Rose: Jacobite Living History re-enactment group from Newcastle. They specialise in presenting the clothing and weapons of the Jacobite period, the time of Culloden, known to many who have been following the Outlander series. What fun to witness the olden days of Scotland and maybe learn a bit of history!
The final program will be available the week before the event.
