While the all-inclusive playground was able to reopen once the floodwaters started to recede, subsequent assessments have found the soft fall playing surface will need to be replaced.
"Livvi's Place was hit particularly hard during the flood, being completely submerged at the peak of the event, however we were impressed with how the play equipment held up," explained council's acting manager of Community Spaces, Recreation and Trades, Michael Cross.
"Structurally, everything is fine but the under layer of the soft fall surface is damaged and will need replacing."
While the park is closed to the public for the surface to be pulled up, council will also get contractors in to do landscaping and beautification works.
"It's really overgrown and there's lots of weeds, we've also had several snake sightings which is a concern, so a good clean-up will regenerate the space for everyone," Michael said.
Council will update the community on a reopening date once it has a clearer timeframe but expect the closure to take up to a month.
