The Ride to Recovery - Manning Valley TT Challenge on May 22-23 will be held on roads that were underwater just weeks ago, when floods cut off the village of Manning Point, forcing residents to rely on helicopter drops to receive essential items.
Now that rebuilding is underway, the cycleclub hopes to harness the power of sport to boost community spirits.
"We know that the recovery process-emotionally, environmentally, physically and financially-is going to be long and challenging," race director Ivor Thomas said.
"We see this event as a positive way to engage with the broader cycling community, and to boost the local economy and spirits in a way that only sport does."
"We intend to use the event as a fundraiser, with any proceeds above expenses channelled back to disaster relief agencies locally."
The time trial event will use two new courses: the first on the water's edge at Manning Point, and the second at Coolongolook.

Uniquely, the first day will feature pairs time trialling, allowing two riders to team up in the classic discipline made famous by the Duo Normand in France.
On both days, individual time trials will be run for cyclists and para-cyclists U15 and upwards.
Both days will be part of the Rauland U19 Road Series, encouraging the state's top juniors to compete for a placement with a European team.
A total of $4500 in prize money will be offered across the event. Entries will open this week on EntryBoss, and the club encourages participants to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday to support local businesses.
