Whitton has been in the Sydney Roosters system, playing under 18s last year.
"He's going to be good for us,'' captain-coach Mick Sullivan said.
The Tigers will play a trial against Port Sharks on Saturday at the Wingham Sporting Complex. Games will kickoff with league tag at 12.15, with first grade away from 3pm.
Sullivan admits he's no great fan of trial games, but he intends to have a run.
"I'll suit up. I probably won't play any big minutes but it will be good to have a game to see where my body's at,'' he said.
Sullivan took the Tigers to the minor semi-final in 2019, however, he missed the last month of the competition after badly injuring his ankle. In his absence the Tigers struggled, winning just one game.
Wingham will meet Wauchope at Wauchope in the opening round of the season on Saturday May 1.
The Group Three season launch will be held at the Wingham Services club tomorrow night (April 16). Former leading referee Mick Stone will be the special guest. The evening will also feature interviews with all first grade coaches.
