The Duke of Edinburgh died on Friday April 9 (Australian time) at Windsor Castle, aged 99.
He will be buried on Saturday April 17.
He stepped off a plane at Taree Airport to a large crowd before a trip down the Pacific Highway to inspect a proposed mining site north of Hawks Nest.
Prince Philip would return to Australia later in the year.
He accompanied Queen Elizabeth II to open the Sydney Opera House on October 20.
