To the people who had homes damaged by water, start looking at the government bodies and other single minded bodies with an agenda not based on fact or history of this once beautiful river. (Look at) why its once river bed was allowed to silt up with mud that damaged your homes because the river bed is now one to two metres higher than it use to be. The water has to go somewhere.
Maybe your insurance companies can claim against environmental negligence on the part of whoever let this happen.
As a teenager, the last day of school and all summer was to go to the Bight Bridge in Wingham and dive and jump off, never touching the bottom; catch flathead to 4-5 pound, perch to 2 pound.
Before this rain you could walk across the river without getting your thighs wet. Something is wrong.
So maybe you non-local government people will not only do your study but also look for local people, fishermen, oyster growers and history, and look at why a once navigable river hauling timber and milk from the wharf at Wingham to the ocean is now a shallow swamp.
