Although the global pandemic has meant the volunteers could not work out of the library for some time, they have not stopped providing the service.
"Over the last 12 months, the Society has been active and volunteers have worked remotely from their homes," MWFHS secretary, Barbara Waters said.
The Library granted access of ancestry.com and Findmypast remotely so volunteers could continue to research.
"We've been very fortunate. The Library has been very good to us," Barbara said.
The society saw an increase in inquiries from the public during COVID lockdown.
"I think it's given people a lot of opportunity to check a lot of the family history that they've got and to verify family trees. It's given family historians the opportunity to double check all of that," Barbara said.
MWFHS operates at Taree Library Monday to Saturday, 10am to 12pm.
The Society's first monthly meeting is on March 15, 10.30am at Taree Library. MWFHS welcomes new members.
