Many family members and relatives together with friends paid their final respects to Roslyn Bird on Monday February 15 at St Matthew's Anglican Church Wingham and later at the Tinonee Cemetery before some of them gathered at Tinonee Memorial Hall for the wake and a chance to reminisce on Roslyn's life.
First visit to MCC premises
I made my first visit to the new MidCoast Council premises at Biripi Way, when representing the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall Committee at the Halls Network Meeting held Tuesday February 16. I was one of a group of approximately 18 representatives from the many Halls that come within the council region.
A number of topics were discussed including insurances, grants, booking fees to name a few and it was good to make contact with the other folk who all have their local hall's interests at heart. This was the first meeting for the year with further ones planned.
Tinonee Historical Society
Members of Tinonee Historical Society are reminded that their monthly meeting will be held at the Museum tomorrow evening, Thursday February 25 commencing at 7.30p.m.
Tinonee School news
Congratulations to the 18 students who participated in the Manning Zone PSSA swimming carnival at Taree Aquatic Centre last Wednesday, February 17 with Isabella and Jordon both making it to the Regional Swimming Carnival. The 18 Student Representative Council members for 2021 have been elected to represent their classes.
There is an urgent call-out for more volunteers in the canteen, which is a vital school resource that benefits all students at the school.
This week will see students take part in Zone Basketball Trials on Tuesday February 23, the Boys Zone Cricket Trials Wednesday February 24 whilst on March 19 the cross country and colour explosion is planned - lets hope the weather holds good for these events.
Memorial for Bob Ezzy
Despite inclement weather, family and friends gathered at Mondrook Hall to attend the memorial service for the late Robert "Bob" Ezzy last Saturday morning which allowed all to say farewell as a community. Bob's funeral service had taken place in January following his passing on January 5.
Birthday wishes
Another birthday will be celebrated by Mrs Joan Donnelly who turns 101 tomorrow, Thursday February 25. I believe a small celebration dinner with family members was held on Saturday evening for this very special lady. Happy birthday Joan, may you have many more to come.
