Speaking in the legislative assembly chamber on Thursday morning, February 18, Mr Bromhead commended the government for appointing a ministerial taskforce to investigate options for the Manning River entrances.
Now that the taskforce has finalised its report and recommendations, Mr Bromhead called on the government to fund modelling and a business case.
"I'm calling on the NSW Government to continue supporting this project by funding Manly Hydrology to model the taskforce's proposed solution alongside a business case to reinforce the benefit permanent entrances could have for the Manning Valley," he said.
"The funding I'm asking for is the next step in the process of the Manning Valley's more than century long fight to make a permanent navigable entrance between Harrington and Manning Point and a permanent entrance at Farquhar inlet a reality.
"We've already seen great support for this project from the community since launching a paper petition with the Manning River Action Group and key stakeholders and I'm hopeful my request for funding will be met to ensure this project continues to progress as the Manning Valley communities carry on rallying around the petition."
