News from around the Lansdowne Valley

The Lansdowne Community Hall Managers have a full calendar of events happening at the hall for the next few months.
Firstly, there is the Twilight Market happening at the hall on Saturday evening, February 27. Doors open at 4pm.
The barbecue will be fired up by the Lansdowne Rural Fire Brigade members with all proceeds from the barbecue going to the brigade. Never mind cooking dinner mum, just have the night of and come along and purchase take away from the fire brigade's barbecue.
There will be tea, coffee, cake and cold drinks available from the hall kitchen.
A good number of stalls have already booked but there is plenty of room outside the hall if anyone would still like to book a site.
Please come along and support our Lansdowne Fire Brigade and our hall.
The hall not been able to raise the required funds needed to keep up the maintenance due to the hall being closed because of COVID. Unfortunately, the bills keep coming in.
Now the managers of the hall will be working hard to get back on track and are looking forward to a promising 2021.

Cafe for a day
The Lansdowne Community Hall Managers are sending an invitation to our Lansdowne Valley community members to come along to the hall on March 24 when "A Café for a Day" will be held.
The managers would like to see any new arrivals to Lansdowne come along and join in and take this opportunity to get to know your new neighbours.
Our older community members are most welcome. They may even pass on some of their knowledge about what it has been like growing up in Lansdowne.
There will be a speaker coming along from the Men's Shed to talk about what kind of things they make and what they do in the community. There will also be a display on some of the items that the members of the Men's Shed make.
Heath Watts will be there to entertain us with his nice music.
The day will commence at 10am. Come along and enjoy a scrumptious morning tea/lunch. There will be a small charge of $5 per person.
Art exhibition
Entry forms are now available for the Lansdowne Community Hall Art Exhibition which is being held at the hall on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2.

Fishing club outing
The next Lansdowne Fishing Club weekend outing will be held on March 6 and 7. Target species for that outing with double points are whiting and perch.
The next seafood raffles will be held on Saturday, March 13.
Country music days
A reminder that the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club will be holding Country Music Days where walk-up artist are being invited to perform.
This is the perfect time for anyone who would like to take the opportunity to have their music heard in front of an audience.
The first event will be on Sunday, February 28 from 11am to 4pm. It will then be held on the last Sunday of every month.
Everyone is welcome. COVID rules will be enforced, the bar and bistro will be open and tea and coffee available.
Raffles will be run through the day. Backing band, but no backing tracks, and mic socks must be used. The club will have some on standby.
