Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead visited the hall last month to present the cheque to members of the Marlee Hall and Progress Association.
The past eight years have seen a number of upgrades at the hall with grants for a new kitchen extension, improved toilets as well as exterior cladding and painting.
"Once we get the front and side painted she'll be looking beautiful for her 100th birthday," said hall volunteer Jennie Cameron.
The Marlee community will hopefully celebrate the hall's centenary in 2022 but of course it all depends on COVID restrictions.
"The hall hasn't been regularly used in the last 12 months," said Jennie.
"Until we're allowed a decent number of people at the hall, very little is going to happen."
The hall is a much loved member of the small Marlee community and pre-COVID events included the popular glitz and glamour ball, weddings and other community fundraisers including events for the RFS.
The only current regular event is a fortnightly morning tea started to help with bushfire recovery.
Outside financial help is essential to keeping the hall going in this small, ageing community.
Jennie is grateful for the help and support of MP Stephen Bromhead and the NSW State Government.
"Without that support I can't see how we could have been sustainable," admits Jennie.
"Everybody loves having our hall but I don't think they realise what's involved," she added.
