A field of 153 players took to the Taree Golf Course on a very hot Australia Day to contest the 22nd Rotary Club of Taree Charity Golf Day.

The event was well supported by local golfers and the business community, with $7000 raised for local charities such as the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, children's awards at the Taree Eisteddfod and the Australian Children's Music Foundation.
Open division winners were Shane Nash, Kieran Green, John Flemming and Corey Harper with 54.87.
The team of Jason Hudson, Steve Moss, Jim Warren and Nick Mann placed second with 56.37 ahead of Mark Ryan, Graham Norris, Michael Ryan and Joel Reading in third and Brad Allan, Danny Maurer, Trevor Brown and Chris Martin in fourth.
Cindy Gooch, Merle Wright, Jesse Gooch and Todd Watkin won the mixed section with Sue Allport, Pauline McMaster, Craig Allport and Tony McMaster in second.
Nearest to the pin winners were Jason Hudson (265cm on the first), Craig Allport (141cm on the fourth), Shane Eggins (219cm on the 12th), John Andrews (262cm on the 14th), Cindy Gooch (563cm on the 14th) and Corey Scott (292cm on the 16th).
Dean Whitlan was the men's straight driver winner and Kerry Stephens was the straight drive women's winner.
Event organiser, Rotarian Kevin Sharp thanked Club Taree, the event sponsors and all the participants for making the day a success.
The golf grounds staff were commended for preparing the course in hot conditions.
