MidCoast Council general manager Adrian Panuccio said council staff have settled into the new administration and customer service centre at Yalawanyi Ganya at Biripi Way, Taree South really well.
Staff moved into the building on January 4 and undertook orientation on the first day.
"People are enjoying the new work spaces and exploring the different ways to work.
"We will have different ways to deliver to the community, which is key for us," he said.
Greater Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester councils merged in 2016 to create MidCoast Council.
Mr Panuccio said accommodation as well as the business enterprise and IT were two key objectives they have now met.
"It will deliver benefits to the community and build trust."
Mayor David West said the new building is a statement about council being successful, strong and moving forward.
"We're going to be offering a service to the community that never existed before. The customer experience will be very different."
A total of 350 staff work in the building and Mayor West said the energy the building has generated within the staff has been very positive.
The new public cafe located within the building, The Junction, will open on Monday, January 11.
Mitch Spiteri, who has taken on the cafe, is also behind the very successful Wallabi Point Coastal Cafe and Tinonee Country Cafe.
He is excited for the opportunity and said they will start with front of house service (coffee and cakes) and will eventually move into a full menu when they see what people are after.
The Junction will start with a team of three, with flexibility to grow depending on how busy the cafe is.
"I'm looking forward to it," said Mitch.
