The same week, our federal member Dr David Gillespie, not for the first time, was mentioned in the national press for railing against climate action.
On this occasion, he was reported to have spoken in a party room meeting against the NSW coalition government's plan to facilitate more renewable energy generation in this state. In doing so, he reportedly joined Craig Kelly, Matt Canavan and Barnaby Joyce.
Even by National Party standards, Dr Gillespie seems to position himself on the climate change-denying fringe.
Despite his medical training, he seems to disregard climate science entirely. I note that the Australian Medical Association has declared climate change to be a health emergency.
To my knowledge, Dr Gillespie has not adequately publicly explained the rationale for his position. On behalf of this electorate, I call upon him to do so.
