The improvements were made possible by $26,000 grant from the NSW Office of Responsible Gaming.
The money enabled the brigade to install electric lifters for two rollerdoors, five fire ground radios, and two rapid deploying electric live reels for the truck.
"Also a bit of leftover funds allowed us to concrete the second half of driveway and an area at thre front of the shed for hose drying and extra training space," brigade member Annette Pullman said.
"All have increased the efficiency, safety and response time of our brigade. We are every grateful for this grant."
Tinonee has record numbers of women who have joined the Brigade in recent months. Secretary Sue Odgers is the first to admit that the new electric roller doors have made life so much easier for both sexes when it comes to deploying the Tinonee fire tankers to an emergency call out.
"It's quicker, more efficient, and so much easier on the arms then the old pulley and chain. Now we just push a button, the doors lift up, and off we go!" Sue said.
Tinonee Brigade captain Bruce Annetts said that the government funding, along with the generous donations from the local community, has been instrumental in the upgrade of various brigade assets in recent months.
"I feel that as a village brigade, with our new tanker and our revitalised new membership, as well as upgraded tools and resources at our disposal, we are as ready as we can be for whatever the coming fire seasons throw at us," Bruce said.
