The shops are hanging their Christmas decorations already. There are stacks of hams in the supermarket, and Christmas stamps at the Post Office. Just about everyone I've spoken to, including my own kids, is dreading the prospect of gift buying this Yuletide. Let's face it - this year has been pretty exhausting. After we emerged from the horror and stress of the bushfires, we were swiftly thrust into a global public health crisis which still governs everything we do. All this chaos has had one upside though - it's reinforced the importance of friends and family above all else. It's shown us very clearly that relationships and shared experiences are priceless, and so much more important than "things" and "stuff".

With this in mind, one of the most thoughtful and valuable gifts you could choose for friends and family is a Gift Certificate from the Manning Entertainment Centre. They start at an affordable $25 and you can choose any amount above that as well. The lucky recipient can then choose whatever show they like best - be it theatre, dance, live music, film or comedy. If you play your cards right, they might even invite you along! Each year we present a diverse range of entertainment with something to appeal to all ages and tastes, and our Gift Certificates are valid for three years, so there's no rush. You'll be giving the gift of a moment in time that will be remembered and cherished forever; one that will linger long after the games console has been superseded, or the perfumed moisturiser has run out. Gift Certificates are available online at theMEC.com.au, or if you would like our assistance, please call the friendly MEC team on 6592 5466.
Finally, by the time this is published, South Australian residents will hopefully be reaching the end of their sudden lock-down. Our thoughts have been with all of them over this past week, and we sincerely hope that the serious measures taken have resulted in the desired outcome of stemming the virus spread. A special mention goes to the South Australian arts workers and organisations with whom we have been conferring throughout the year. Hopefully your curtains will be raised again this weekend. We thank you all for doing the hard yards in order to get COVID under control in your state, for the good of the country. Bravo!
