The focus of this evening will be on bushfire recovery and residents are encouraged to attend and report on things that went well in the 2019 fires, things that didn't go so well and processes that could be improved.
This meeting is not about council telling what should happen but listening to community suggestions for improvement. It is a good opportunity for us to have a say in making us ready for a future serious event.
RSL auxiliary welcomed
Old Bar Beach RSL Sub-branch met last week and for the first time, was able to welcome auxiliary members to the meeting.
Not all sub-branches have an auxiliary and many that did have them, have lost them over the years. Old Bar is fortunate that community members have volunteered to give their time to support the sub-branch.
President Jeff Early advised the meeting that he is ordering shirts and badges for auxiliary members so that they look and feel part of our organisation.
The sub-branch would welcome more to join the auxiliary. Members will assist with some events and fundraising.
It is open to both men and women who are interested in supporting the Old Bar Beach RSL Sub-branch. It is not a group that requires a president, secretary or treasurer, it just operates under the sub-branch.
Members do not need to be veterans or partners of veterans, just people who would like to help. If you feel moved to help, please contact President, Jeff Early on 6557 4622.
Sub-branch members are advised that their annual membership fee for 2021 is now due. Payment can be made to treasurer, Peter Vidler or via electronic funds transfer.
The Christmas raffle ticket sales are going well with on-line selling providing a good method. There are six prizes, being vouchers from Coles Old Bar; Sai Thai Table and Tea; Old Bar Village Cafe; Metro Service Station, Old Bar and Old Bar Pharmacy.
Thanks go to the Lions Club of Old Bar Beach for a donation towards the cost of production of the recently distributed sub-branch flyer.
Members are reminded that the annual Christmas dinner will be held at the Old Bar Tavern on Saturday, December 12 at 6pm. Confirm your attendance with president Jeff now.
Then on January 17, 2021, it is intended to attend the Sunday Sippers at the Taree-Old Bar SLSC to further promote our organisation within the community.
There will be no sub-branch monthly meetings in December or January, the next meeting being the annual general meeting on February 18, 2021.
