Manning Great Lakes police attend driving, theft and trespass incidents
Manning Great Lakes Police were called to several incidents over the past week, including the tragic death of a 14-year-old boy at Potoroo Falls on Sunday.

- About 10.50am Sunday, November 15, a 27 year old Singleton Heights man was seen to exit a Bulahdelah service station and upon reaching Bulahdelah Way, accelerated harshly causing his rear tyres to lose traction and cause the vehicle to spin in a clock wise direction at Blanch Street. This caused thick white smoke to spread across the roadway and severely reduce visibility to other road users. At the time, police were 50 metres away and clearly witnessed the incident. The vehicle and driver were stopped a short distance away and the driver spoken to. The driver was issued with a Traffic Infringement Notice for operating vehicle to cause driving wheels to undergo a loss of traction.
- On the afternoon of November 11, a 16 year old Taree youth was seen to steal a motorcycle from a Taree business premises. The owner of the premises yelled out for the young man to return the motorcycle. The 16 year old gave the bike back to the owner and walked away. Police say an employee of the victim's business continued to follow the offender so that he could be positively identified as committing the incident. It is alleged the offender has then confronted by the witness, putting his hands up in a boxing stance, and produced a knife and thrust it towards the witness. About 4.30am, November 15, police located the 16 year old Taree male and placed him under arrest. The youth was charged with stalk/intimidate, steal motor vehicle, and custody of a knife in a public place. He was refused bail to appear at Taree Children's Court on December 10.
- About 2.30am Friday, November 13 police attended a rural property in the Melinga area as a result of information received that persons were possibly trespassing at that property. Police located a 42 year old Wingham woman, a 39 year old Mount George man and a motor vehicle at the premises. Police searched the man, the woman and vehicle and located a large amount of cannabis, resealable bags of methyl-amphetamine, and a moderate amount of money. Both persons were arrested and conveyed to Taree Police Station. The woman was charged with supplying a prohibited drug, enter building with intent to commit an indictable offence, and breach of bail. She is bail refused to appear at Forster Local Court on January 20, 2021. The man was charged with supplying a prohibited drug and entering a building with intent to commit an indictable offence. He has been refused bail to appear at Taree Local Court on January 29, 2020.
- About 12.20am on Friday, November 13, a 34 year old Taree man was seen riding a pushbike along Victoria Street, Taree. The pushbike had no lights and the rider was not wearing a helmet. Police questioned the rider about the pushbike, and he told police he borrowed it from a friend in Port Macquarie. Checks conducted by police revealed that the pushbike had been stolen from Westmead in April 2020. Police searched the man and located two resealable bags possibly containing methyl-amphetamine, two pipes used for the smoking of methyl-amphetamine, and a moderate amount of money. The man was arrested and conveyed to Taree Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, and goods in custody suspected of being unlawfully obtained. He was conditionally bailed to appear at Taree Local Court on December 8.
