Brittany Cochrane and Raechel Saunders will see their artwork incorporated into different aspects of the building, both internally and externally.

"The work of these two talented Biripi women will feature in our new building, as a symbol of respect to the Aboriginal community of the MidCoast and to honour the fact that the building is on Biripi country," council's general manager Adrian Panuccio said.

Brittany's work Living As One on Biripi Country, and Raechel's Connected both tell a story of connection to culture and the land on which the MidCoast community resides.

Graphic elements drawn from Brittany and Raechel's work are used within the building in a number of ways, including glazing graphics on glass meeting room walls, designs on noticeboards and glazing decals on some entry doors.

"I'm really proud and I think it's such a huge step forward in the right direction to see our artwork featured in this building," Brittany said.

"The whole process of working with MidCoast Council on this project has been so easy, I've felt really respected and valued as an artist."

Similarly, Raechel believes the inclusion of cultural elements is important for future generations.

"It shows everyone that we are here and we're a strong part of this community and our culture deserves to be celebrated," she said.

"I'm proud of who I am and this shows that MidCoast Council is proud of us too."

The work of Raechel and Brittany was selected through a process which invited local Aboriginal artists to submit artworks for consideration.

"We saw our new administration and customer service centre as a great opportunity to really showcase and honour our local Aboriginal culture," Mr Panuccio said.
