Cathy and Rebecca have been facilitating the Journey of Hope Program at school for the past eight weeks. They remarked on what a happy and positive environment they felt was being created for the little learners and that, together with the community, a wonderful job of protecting the children from the many possible impacts of the COVID-19 world we are currently all living in. The focus has been on developing the children's resilience and this will benefit them for life.
The SRC fundraising committee has organised fundraising for koalas with sale of children's art works and a market day. Funds are going to Adopt a Koala and Port Macquarie Koala Hospital.
The SRC technology committee is producing movies and radio programs so that kindergarten orientation, transition and parent information sessions can be held in the online and digital space.
The school is now embarking on the next four year School Excellence Planning Cycle, gathering information and evidence from all members of the school community about how they are tracking in areas such as student performance, wellbeing and community engagement. The information will be used to determine where current strengths are and to identify those areas where improvement is possible.
The school canteen will be open from Monday to Friday in fourth term and there is a need for volunteers to help package and serve food. If you can help, phone 6553 7248 to offer assistance.
More support for RSL
Old Bar RSL Sub-branch meat raffle ticket sellers again received a pleasant surprise last Saturday when they learned that an anonymous donor had paid for the meat tray prizes. This has happened on more than one occasion recently. The support from businesses and the general public is very gratifying as this sub-branch continues to grow and flourish.
School holiday tennis comp
Old Bar Tennis Club is hosting a School Holiday Tennis Camp from Wednesday, October 7 to Friday, October 9. It is for children aged four to 14 years. There will be no Seaside Classic this year so this is a good opportunity for kids to get a taste for the game or to improve their skills.
