Just after noon on Friday, September 25, the group gathered in Fotheringham Park for the demonstration.
Several people made speeches directed at climate change, perceived political ignorance and the fact students across the world are skipping school to protest.
Among the group were St Clare's High School students, Mid Coast Knitting Nannas and Extinction Rebellion Mid Coast members.
The group were COVID-19 minded with each person wearing a face mask, using hand sanitiser and social distancing.
Some of the signs held by activists were emblazoned with slogans such as 'climate action now', 'fund our future, not gas', 'Royal Commission into clean coal technology' and 'there is no planet B'.
A person was dressed in a red, inflatable suit which read 'Stop Adani' while another wore a possum costume.
Members of the group recited climate change chants and songs such as 'we need climate action' before a march through the Taree CBD.
The strike wasn't for everyone. One motorist drove past and yelled explicit language at the group.
There was brief police presence at the start of the strike.
