The report recommends the addition of a new theatre space at the MEC be approved, after consideration has been given to flood and fire risk, ensuring there is appropriate parking spaces available, and that the development meets zoning requirements for a public recreation site.
"These development applications are about enhancing our existing facilities for the benefit of the community, and every measure has been taken by staff to ensure they meet all requirements, and are consistent with objectives of each site," MidCoast Council general manager, Adrian Panuccio said.
Mr Panuccio said councillors also would receive an update on the progress of the Biripi Way office centralisation project, which would see administration staff from three council offices relocate to the former Masters building on Biripi Way in January 2021.
Other matters to be considered include the election of the deputy mayor, an update on council investments and a resolution on the Draft North Diamond Beach Public Access Strategy.
Councillors resolved at the September 9 meeting to elect the deputy mayor by open ballot, following nominations provided to the general manager prior to the meeting.
"The elected deputy mayor will hold the position for 12 months, up until the next local government elections in September 2021," Mr Panuccio said.
