The operation is restricted to undertaking minor work on 12 identified dead or hazardous trees within the Black Head flora reserve, and includes pruning tree branches that overhang Black Head Bowling Club's property, along with removing dead and structurally unsound vegetation.
MidCoast Council is only permitted to remove identified hazardous or dead vegetation that poses a safety risk to the community and an assessment has been conducted on the vegetation that borders the bowling club, MidCoast Council community spaces recreation and trades manager, Dan Aldridge said.
"These works are designed to minimise impact to the bowling club's assets from dead and hazardous vegetation," Mr Aldridge said.
Council is hoping that these works will deter future unauthorised vegetation clearing and encroachment of this sensitive area.
Following the clearing operation, council consultants will begin a five year plan to restore a rainforest area that was illegally cleared last year, using assisted natural regeneration techniques, supplementary planting and mulching.
