This follows a $4 million announcement from Member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie, and Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead.
The announcement comes after the NSW Government's $258 million investment in its Safer Roads Program for 2020-21 was bolstered by an additional $140 million from the Federal Government for targeted road safety projects.
Dr Gillespie said the funding would deliver the safety upgrade the community had called for, with a one-lane roundabout - including traffic calming, line marking, lighting and signage - set to be installed at the notorious black spot.
"This stretch of road has seen too many accidents and near misses, it has taken a heavy toll on the lives of families here and across our community," he said.
Statistics from Transport for NSW's Centre for Road Safety showed a total of 15 accidents occurred at the intersection in the five-year period between January 2013 and September 2018, resulting in a total of 18 injuries and zero deaths.
An additional two non-fatal crashes occurred there in 2019.
Mr Bromhead, who was involved in an accident at the intersection in 2011 that left him with a broken leg, said he knew firsthand how dangerous the stretch of road was.
"I've been a tireless campaigner to upgrade our local roads and this intersection, because I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I went through that night, and I don't want any other families to go through what my family did," he said.

MidCoast mayor, David West, believed the announcement demonstrated the benefits that could be delivered to the community when all three levels of government worked together.
It is understood MidCoast Council will now prepare detailed design plans for the project before it is put to tender, with site works to include the relocation of power and water utilities.
