Literary institute president, Mrs Carol Emerton reported to the annual general meeting that donations of $300 were made to various schools and a $100 donation was made to Mitchells Island School for its 150th anniversary.
Mrs Emerton said the COVID-19 pandemic changed many of the everyday practices of the institute, including closing its library.
The library, located upstairs at 129 Victoria Street, was closed during the lockdown set by the government and has since reopened following the new government directions set out for libraries.
Librarian Mrs Kylie Attard and assistant Mrs Nadia Monslave worked diligently setting in place all needed signage and moving furniture around so the library conformed with govenment requirements.
There were 58 new members this year, bringing total membership to 2296.
