The fish weighed about 7.5kgs out of the water. It was caught in 21 metres of water, three miles from Crowdy in the very late afternoon. The bait was fresh sergeant baker.

Roger will be donating the snapper to Marine Rescue Crowdy Harrington. The coastal patrol has a new boat it's commissioning shortly and he will donate the snapper so they can cook it up and enjoy it as part of their celebrations.

Meanwhile, Times fishing correspondent Ian Pereira reports outside fishing has picked up with the return of the westerly winds.

The inshore waters are calm and good catches have been made. The best fish have come from the southern grounds.

Snapper, flathead, leather jackets and morwong have all been boated.

Tailor and and salmon are on the bite on lures and bait from the beaches..

Harrington beach has produced a couple of nice mulloway - one of 15kgs and the other of 18kgs.

They were caught just north of the sea wall on the rising tide and worms were the best bait.

In the river bream and luderick are still on the bite on yabbies and a few small mulloway around the 4kg mark have been landed,

The weather looks good fo the next few days for those may want to wet a line.
