To minimise the risk of the spread of COVID-19, Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) facilities, including Manning Base Hospital, have enforced restricted visitor hours effective immediately.

Just one visitor is permitted mornings between 10am and 1pm and afternoons between 3pm and 7pm.
Flexibility will be allowed for special areas such as children, birthing and compassionate grounds.

Liz Grist, from HNELHD, told the Times in March there is a serious purpose to any imposed restrictions.
"We are not doing this just because we can, it's to protect all patients and staff," Ms Grist said.
"Who will look after patients if the staff get sick?"
Restrictions enforced at the start of the pandemic at Manning Base Hospital copped backlash on social media.
Visitors must not enter a facility if they have a cold, fever or flu-like symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has a confirmed coronavirus case in the last fortnight.
COVID-19 testing clinics in the area include the Manning Base Hospital drive through clinic, Forster Laverty Pathology, Pathology North Forster, Taree Douglas Hanly Moir Pathology and Taree Respiratory Clinic.
There are currently no cases of the virus in the Mid Coast region.
