Also fencing has been repaired and boulders placed along the dune side of the road to protect the nesting colonies for Little Terns and other shorebirds.
Vietnam Veterans Day cancelled
It is with great disappointment to announce that the 2020 Vietnam Veterans (three day event) has been cancelled due to the on-going COVID-19 crises and updated restrictions from the NSW Government.
Much organisation went into preparations by John Macartney and many others had volunteered to assist during the event.
This is just another event that has fallen victim to the pandemic, similar to another annual event at Springwood hosted by the Blue Mountains Vietnam Veterans and Associated Forces.
Roadwork complete
The upgrade of Old Bar Road through the CBD area was completed last week with the final seal coat, road markings and newly installed pedestrian crossing and another safe crossing in the mouth of Cross Street especially suitable for mobility scooters.
Use your notice boards
Old Bar has two community notice boards, one adjacent to the footpath at Coles car park which was provided by and is maintained by the Old Bar Manning Point Business and Community Association. Notices of a maximum size of A4 can be left at Lauder's Real Estate from where they are collected.
The second notice board between the newsagency and Old Bar Cellars is maintained by the Old Bar Beach RSL Sub-branch. Again, notices should be maximum A4 size and can be given to the RSL meat raffle sellers on Saturday mornings, or left with Lauder's with notation that you would like it in the RSL notice board.
Both boards were recently cleared out because many of the notices were very old and possibly out of date.
Community organisations are encouraged to supply fresh signs for these boards. Neither of the boards are for private advertising. You can contact 0425 229 542 if you require further information.
