A team of Rotarians was recently on site at Bobin Public School thanks to generous donations received from near and far.
"The Rotary Club of Taree received donations from various other Rotary clubs in Australia as well as from as far as England and Japan." David Denning, Rotary Club of Taree president said.
"We decided we wanted to spend the money on a worthwhile cause."
A visit to the school some months ago gave the club a good understanding of what the students needed after the school was heavily impacted by the fire.
The Rotarians essentially came away with a wish list and set about making those wishes come true.
Unfortunately the project was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but last month, as restrictions eased, the team made its way up to Bobin.
On Saturday, June 27 a team of willing volunteers led by Ian Dyball installed a new sandpit cover, new shelves in the library, built two new outdoor tables and even delivered a brand new barbecue.
They will also be installing an outdoor table tennis table in the near future and the sandpit will have shade sails too.
Though Bobin is technically out of area for the Taree based club, David said their Wingham counterparts were more than happy for the Rotarians to help in Bobin.
The Taree crew kept it local as much as possible ordering the sandpit cover to be made to size by a Taree based manufacturer.
Wood for the project was supplied by Machin's Sawmill in Wingham and the barbecue came at a reduced price thanks to Manning Mowers, BBQ's and Heating.
"It was a lot of fun," said David who was able to put his building trade experience to good use on the project.
The Rotary Club of Taree has been helping the community for the past eight decades with the club turning 84 this year.
