Taree Wildcats, Port United, and Kempsey Saints were all beaten by North Coast Football clubs. Coffs Harbour-based Northern Storm accounted for Taree 2-1, Coffs City United downed Port United 2-0 while Sawtell beaten Kempsey Saints 4-3.
Macleay Valley Rangers defeated Port Saints 2-1 in an all Football Mid North Coast contest while Boambee drew with Coffs Coast Tigers 1-1 in the other fixture.
Taree struggled in the reserve grade match, going down to Northern Storm 6-1 in the game at Korora,while Coffs City United defeated Port United 2-0. Kempsey Saints beat Sawtell 2-1, Port Saints and Macleay Valley drew 0-0. Boambee defeated Coffs Coast Tigers 2-0.
Taree will be on the road to Coffs Harbour again for round two on Saturday when the Wildcats meet Coffs City United.
In other round two games Coffs Coast Tigers tackle Port United at Coffs Harbour, Sawtell will be at home to Macleay Valley, Port Saints tackle Northern Storm at Port Macquarie and Kempsey Saints meet Boambee at Kempsey.
In the opening round of the women's Southern League premiers Cundletown thrashed Taree 14-0, Hallidays Point accounted for Old Bar 2-1, Tuncurry-Forster beat Pacific Palms 2-1 while there's no result from the Wallamba/Wingham game.
All Football Mid North Coast competitions started last weekend.
Reserve Grade
