Manning Great Lakes Police District officers will continue to assist in the enforcement of all COVID-19 ministerial directions.
Several directions remain in place which cover returned overseas travellers, diagnosed people, mass gatherings and movement, spitting and coughing, residential aged car facilities and the recent announcement of restrictions for affected people from interstate COVID-19 hotspots.
The Public Health Act 2010 (NSW) provides police with the power to enforce these orders. It is an offence for a person to fail to comply with an order and severe penalties apply such as a maximum penalty up to $11,000 and/or six months imprisonment.
As part of NSW Police Force's commitment to NSW Health to help reduce the risk of community spread, officers across the State will be conducting proactive, high-visibility activity.
Police encourage the community to report suspected breaches of any ministerial direction. For the latest breakdown of COVID-19 restrictions, visit www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rules
