A 38-year-old man was arrested in Harrington over the weekend after he attacked a female police officer.

Officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District attended a Harrington address at around 1pm on Sunday, June 14 in relation to a domestic incident.
When they arrived it was discovered that a 38-year-old man had fled over the back fence.
The officers left the premises and patrolled the Harrington area, eventually finding the man trying to hide behind a telegraph pole.

The officers called to the man and he walked away, prompting them to follow and tell him to stop.
As the officers approached the man, he turned and lunged at a female officer, grabbing her by the throat.
The other officers then restrained and arrested the man before taking him to Taree Police Station, where he was charged.
He was refused bail and was scheduled to appear at Port Macquarie Court today, June 15.
The female police officer suffered minor injuries and continued to work.
