There are only a dozen of them and they have certainly given their 54 male counterparts a run for their money.
Leading the prizemoney stakes for the women is Port Macquarie's Jenny Graham who this Saturday in the $350,000 The Stradbroke over 1400m at Eagle Farm could add to kitty with five-year-old gelding Victorem.
The galloper took his prizemoney to more than $1.2 million with a resounding win in a $175,000 feature race over 1200m at Eagle Farm on May 23 and can again feature in the finish this Saturday.
She has also been seen to advantage locally, grabbing a winning double at Manning Valley Race Club's TAB meeting at Taree on May 12.
They were with Lord Avatar and Eurogem which have been racing consistently.
Port trainer Margaret De Gonneville has had a winning double with Gold Rhapsody at her home track and Taree as well as a couple of placings with the galloper.
Trainers have to travel far these days to find suitable races for their horses and another Port trainer, Lisa Sheppard, has grabbed two wins with three-year-old Racketeering.
A second at the Gold Coast for the Trusting gelding was followed with a win in a 1420m race at Grafton on May 22 and another over 1305m at Coffs Harbour on May 22.
She had similar success, ending in a Highway win in Sydney, with Gordon's Leap about a year ago and one of his wins was over Gosford handy galloper Through The Cracks.
Gordon's Leap has had a few issues this year and is spelling, which Racketeering is also doing as Sheppard eyes bigger races.
"Racketeering has had a busy schedule with travelling and starts and he looks promsing," she said.
"In the back of my mind is to aim for the rich Country Championships next year.
"He is a nice fellow, gives no problems, goes easily on the float and is a good traveller."
Then there are the two trainers who had wins with gallopers given to them which won at Taree last week.
Jessica McCusker, 27, from Gladstone, was given six-year-old mare Komachi Force by Port trainer Tas Morton to try her luck and after some consistent runs, it broke through for a two lengths win for her.
In 42 starts Komachi Force has had five wins and 10 placings for prizemoney nearing $85,000 and she expects the mare to line up again in races around the 2000m distance.
Following the win Morton has entrusted her with six-year-old gelding O'Driscoll which has had 40 starts for seven wins and four placings for prizemoney nearing $110,000.
Morton has stipulated that O'Driscoll start in this Friday's Wingham Cup over 1500m and the Wauchope Cup over 1600m at Port.
Taree's latest trainer, Coralie Burnett, couldn't believe her luck at Taree last week when three-year-old gelding Lobban Leroy, given to her by breeder-trainer Robert Barnes from Wingham, won at its first start for her.
No doubt some of the prizemoney will help repairing fences burned at her property in the recent bushfires.
As for Barnes he was rewarded with a win at the same meeting with Lobban Hood, making it six wins from 42 starts and prizemoney around $110,000.
Also bred and raced by him are Lotsa Lobban (eight wins), Lobban Dynamite (7) and Lady Lobban (4).
