So it's fitting she is the winner of a $2000 prize package from the Scone Race Club following an online competition calling for people to create a scene to celebrate the Darley Scone Cup Carnival.

Taking part in the @home 2020 promotion, the Forster resident has won a fully inclusive Race Day Experience at the Scone Race Club.

"I'm very excited, I didn't expect to win, " said Vicki.

"I love the Scone Cup. It's one of my favourite days and I go every year and I love to get dressed up.

"I love the atmosphere of country racing. The same people are there every year, some people from Taree too.

"I was looking forward to this year."

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions the social event that goes along with the race day, held on Friday May 15, couldn't go ahead, although the race was broadcast on various channels.

The Cup is a huge day in Scone.

Vicki said all the people who work at the horse studs attend and it's also a great chance for her to see her son, who works at the the Segenhoe horse stud.

"I love to visit him when I'm there."

When Scone Race Club announced the Facebook promotion this year, Vicki mentioned it to her friend at the Heidi Beau store in Forster to help pull the look together.

"Heidi had a few things, including an umbrella that I borrowed."

Vicki set up her space at her unit block in Forster and said it took a couple of hours to put together.

"I was going for the country, laid-back feel."

She hadn't wanted to be in the photo herself but said when she took the initial shot she felt "it needed someone in the picture".

Scone Race Club announced Vicki as the winner on May 19.

She has a year to use the prize at one of the club's race events (just not the Scone Cup itself) and can take six friends along with her.

Vicki said Scone Cup is a highlight of her year, but she is also a fan of the Taree Races and the Forster Tuncurry Races.

"I go to them all. I enjoy going to the races and dressing up.

"I also love judging the fashions at Forster Tuncurry."

Her involvement in attending horse racing events came through her late husband Glen, who owned racehorses for many years before he tragically died after suffering a heart attack while playing a game of touch football in 2010.

For a time after his passing, Vicki went on to have part ownership in some race horses. "It had been his passion."

For Vicki, the most fun part for her has always been having the chance to dress up for the occasion.

"I love dressing up for it."
