Police attended the station at around 8:10pm, following reports the man had been acting suspiciously since he boarded the train at Central.
Police spoke with the man, who was well known to them, and a subsequent search found that he was in possession of a pocket knife.
The man was also subject to bail conditions that stipulated he was to not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs that weren't prescribed by a doctor.
Police alleged that his behaviour and physical appearance suggested he was under the influence of illegal substances.
He was charged with possession of the pocket knife and breaching bail and is due to appear at Taree Local Court on Tuesday, July 14.
