Waterways across the Mid Coast are set to receive a boost after it was announced that $5 million in NSW Government funding would be distributed to help ease the impact of recent bushfires on coastal waterways.

MidCoast Council is one of six councils that will benefit from the funding, with $913,719 to be put towards its coastal reserves bushfire recovery project.
Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead, has welcomed the announcement.
"The effects of the bushfires have the potential to degrade coastal waterways by impacting water quality and sensitive estuary ecosystems, in turn affecting local industries such as tourism and aquaculture," he said.
"This funding will allow MidCoast Council to move quickly to mitigate these impacts."

Minister for Local Government, Shelley Hancock, said the government was committed to supporting councils manage the effects of the recent bushfires on sensitive estuary ecosystems.
