I am an 81-year-old resident of Smiths Lake and have been absolutely astounded by the influx of visitors that began arriving in our area beginning around last weekend.

The numbers continue to grow as we approach Easter and so many unashamedly walk the streets with family, friends and dogs.

You know who you are and you have been advised not to travel by health experts working tirelessly to try and keep us all as safe as possible against a possible unseen killer.

Please listen up people, this virus kills you dead.

What you are doing is so incredibly selfish.

Do you know that you are not carrying this disease with you?

The simple answer is no, none of us know.

Ignorance is not an excuse and your selfish act displays an arrogance born of ignorance and/or denial.

I am a retired nurse, married to a general practitioner and we are scared.

My husband shops as infrequently as possible and I have not left my home or garden for the past month.

I have not seen my children and/or our grandchildren since Christmas and would like a fighting chance to live to see them again ... who knows when?

This morning I contact Crimestoppers to report our situation.

Initially I was emotional and ashamed to make the call.

It seemed so un-Australian and unfair.

I know a lot of these people own holiday homes and units in the area and love enjoying the area at every opportunity.

I was also afraid of repercussion.

I have a medical disability and have an assistance dog who has become very well known in around our area.

I felt afraid for his safety.

What if someone took action to punish me for making the call?

Now I am ANGRY.

What is it going to take for people to recognised that we really are all in this together and need to follow the rules that are being made for the safety of as many as possible.

Do we have to wait until we have a New York on our hands?

I want everyone to hear my appeal in the hope and trust that you may listen.

Please go home.

If we all do our bit then better times will return and we will each live to enjoy the Australia we used to know.

Call me selfish, I don't care; I want to live to see our children again and at 81 I need everyone's help - please stay at home.
