Bakery back in business
Old Bar Bakery is back in business and we are all glad. As previously reported, a lightning strike on January 23 knocked out the power to the building that houses the Old Bar Bakery, other business and some residences.

The town has been without its bakery until last Friday when it was able to reopen with the aid of a generator and after the arrival of a new oven.
The bakers are getting used to the operation of the new oven but front of shop gave the appearance of "back to normal."
Pies and sausage rolls were on special for the first day's trade and, with heavy trading throughout the day, were sold out of those items before closing.
Tradies again have somewhere for breakfast, morning tea and lunch.
RSL Sub-branch makes the grade
At the Old Bar Beach RSL sub-branch annual general meeting, an executive committee was able to be elected, after a bit of a struggle.
Taree sub-branch member, Charles Fisher, conducted the AGM and presided over the election of office bearers.
Jeff Early accepted the position of president and Howard Kerr-Smith became vice president. Damien Gow agreed to continue as secretary and after a struggle, Peter Vidler agreed to return to the position of treasurer.
Committee member, Ian Dimmock remains in that role and is now joined by Geoff Gillard and Terry Paff.
Ian Dimmock and Bob Stone remain as publicity officers and David Allon continues as Welfare Office, assisted by Frank Pilgrim. Others can join that role at any time.
President Jeff then conducted the normal monthly meeting with Anzac day preparations being foremost.
Secretary Damien has made a start but others have agreed to step in and assist, to spread the workload.
To facilitate the attendance of younger members who have now joined and are still working, the meeting decided to meet at 6pm on the third Thursday of the month and the venue will be the Soldiers' Memorial Hall. The next meeting will be March 19.
Craft@Old Bar
Macramé has made a resurgence in the last few years and on March 4, Joy will show us how to make a simple hanging plant pot holder using this delightful craft. Materials will be supplied. March 18 is a UFO day, so if time runs short you will have more time to complete your project. Otherwise bring along an unfinished project or perhaps commence a new one.
There is no necessity to participate in a workshop. You are most welcome to bring along your own craft project, or do nothing and just enjoy yourself. Our aim is to get together, relax, create and have some fun and fellowship. We care about each other!
World Day of Prayer at Old Bar
World Day of Prayer is celebrated every year in Old Bar, this year hosted by the Anglican congregation. It will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hall Street, Old Bar at 7pm on Friday, March 6.
The theme this year is "Pray for Zimbabwe" and the program is put together by the women of Zimbabwe. Women and men of all denominations traditionally attend this service and all are welcome.
The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.
It is run under the motto "Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action," and is celebrated annually in over 170 countries on the first Friday in March.
The movement aims to bring together people of various races, cultures and traditions in a yearly common Day of Prayer, as well as in closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout the year.
